TheRose Parade is seven days away, and teams of volunteers and officials are prepping the City of Pasadena for what could be over half a million attendees.

Public works crews have removed some traffic signals and poles, and the city has put up signs indicating the temporary parking restrictions. Companies, organizations and cultural institutions are putting the finishing touches on their floats, many of which are already available for viewing.

As the parade draws closer, Pasadena Police will close down Colorado Boulevard between Orange Grove and Sierra Madre Boulevard, and northbound on Sierra Madre Boulevard to Paloma Street.

Road closures are happening earlier this year than they have in the past, said Lisa Derderian, a spokesperson for the City of Pasadena.

"Colorado Boulevard will once again close to motor vehicles earlier than it has in the past," she said. "It will close around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31 and remain closed throughout the conclusion of the staging and cleanup following the parade... We want the residents that live in the area to be aware of that because it is something still relatively new, in its third year of early closure."

This year's theme is "The Power of Hope," and the parade's grand marshals are actresses Rita Moreno (West Side Story, The King and I) and Gina Torres (Suits, Westworld), and Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez.

The parade will feature 39 floats, 20 marching bands and 17 equestrian units.

The Rose Parade will begin at 8 a.m. time on January 1, 2020. It will be broadcast live on NBC4, Univision, ABC7 and KTLA5.
