LAPD Officer Shot In El Segundo Following Pursuit
An LAPD officer was shot during an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning at the El Segundo-Hawthorne border, reports City News Service.
A representative of the LAPD told LAist that the officer was part of a multi-agency taskforce investigating a "187 suspect" (187 is the California penal code for homicide). The investigation later turned into pursuit that led to El Segundo. There, a shooting occurred in which the officer was struck. According to the L.A. Times, the suspect had also sustained injuries. It is unclear what the circumstances of the pursuit or shooting were, and where the pursuit began.
"The officer has been taken to an area hospital," LAPD told LAist. No information on the officer's condition has been released.
The Times reports that the shooting occurred near the intersection of Aviation and El Segundo boulevards.
