The Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department are on the scene of a car crash in the area south of the USC campus involving an SUV that plowed into a home this morning.

The vehicle smashed into the side of the home on 4520 S Wesley Ave shortly before 8 a.m. though the cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The driver reportedly fled the scene, and the LAPD are searching the area for that individual.

LAFD personnel were able to pull the vehicle from the building using a heavy-duty tow truck. One person, a male of an unknown age, was injured, and he has been transported to a local hospital in fair condition, says the LAFD.

Authorities are assessing the safety of the building, and investigators are interviewing witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
