A.M. News: 310 Whiners, Reality Cops & Valley Pizza
Area Code Jingoism
This happened in Chicago years ago and it wasn't that big of a deal. Yet the Westside gets a two page article fronting the L.A. Times' website. This really isn't news, but we're going to gawk at this anyway:
Residents in the 310 zone soon will have to dial four extra digits, even for local calls. Some are reluctant to get with the reprogram... After years of debate and delays, residents of the 310 will no longer be able to dial just seven digits to make local calls starting July 26. That milestone will be followed a month later with the overlay of the 424 area code. With 310 numbers being depleted, phone companies are set to begin distributing 424 numbers to new customers on Aug. 26... Typically, regulators simply split areas when numbers begin to run out. But neither the Westside nor the South Bay wanted to give up the vaunted 310.
Harden the Target
Mayor Sam points us to a very scary video of Saturday's LAPD riot policing via The Manicatack blog. At the time of writing this, there's still no response to Saturday's march on the LAPD blog. NOTE TO LAPD: We know you know that the power of a blog lets you easily release information at any time. That said, we want to hear your side of the story, even if you typed it in your underwear.
LASD officers might end up working as bartenders at ultra-trendy clubs after this reality show airs.
"It gave you the excuse to come to the Valley when no one even knew where the hell the Valley was." The location may have changed, but the pizza should be the same.
