Why is this LAist reader smiling?

Maybe it's because she's going to the Flaming Lips + Gnarls Barkley + Cat Power show tonight at the spanking brand new Galen Center at USC. And she won the sweet new dvd 40 Bands 80 Minutes about the punk rock fest that went down at Il Corral this year. And she won the hilarious new dvd of stand up comedy by Pablo Francisco "Ouch - Live From San Jose".

And she won a cd six-pack of new music by Razorlight, Hem, Forward Russia, and others.

What did she do to get this amazing booty? 1. She read LAist (yay!) 2. She entered the contest by submitting a few URLs that she though best represented LA 3. She was selected by random 4. She answered the email saying "yo yoo baby you won!"

We'd love to post the winning video but it's one of those Embedded Video Disabled by User deals. So go here to see the winner. It was about the time the dude made his own 5 Freeway shield and put it on the freeway sign. Brilliant!

Anyways we want to thank The Flaming Lips, Gnarls Barkley, and Cat Power. As well as the good people behind 40 Bands 80 Minutes, and Pablo Francisco's people. And all the record labels and promotion companies that give us free stuff all year.

Our New Years resolution is to actually review more of that stuff in 2007 instead of just giving it to our loyal readers.

And most of all we'd like to thank AEG and Goldenvoice, the Miracle Mile concert promoters, who not only put on kickass shows but help us bring those shows to our beloved readers. Happy New Year, y'all!
