In our very own low budget local moment of "Dewey Defeats Truman" comes this flub in advertising spotted by CBS2. An ad in today's L.A. Times congratulates the L.A. Kings on sweeping the New Jersey Devils to win the Stanley Cup. Ooops! As we all know, the Kings wound up losing 3-1 to the Devils in Game 4 of the finals.

Looks like the flub notwithstanding, the 99 Cents Only folks had a sense of humor about using the Kings in their ads. From CBS2:

Two ads from the 99-cent store contained the mistake. One along the top congratulated the Kings on winning the Stanley Cup and joked that fans who missed a game could purchase a Game 7 ticket for just 99-cents each. At the bottom of the ad, the company added “just kidding.”

The Kings head to Newark to take on the Devils in Game 5 on Saturday.
