Man Dies Outside Hotel Near LAX After Being Shot At Pot Shop

One man was fatally shot and a woman was injured in a pot shop shooting that spilled over into the parking lot of a hotel near LAX this afternoon. Police say the incident began at Nature's Cure Inc. around 12:15 p.m., KTLA reports. One man was shot and ran towards the nearby Westin Hotel, but later died. A woman was injured when she fell and struck her head during the incident.

The suspect, who is described as a black male in a brown baseball cap, a beige shirt and green pants, fled in a dark-colored BMW and is still at large.

Traffic was shut down between Concourse Way and La Cienega Blvd., and will be diverted to Aviation and Airport, Blvds. Century Blvd. is open, but traffic is heavy.

UPDATE, June 26, 12:30 p.m.: The victim has been revealed as 38-year-old William Dion Carter, City News Service reports. He was shot in the stomach while exchanging gunfire with a security guard during an alleged robbery attempt at the dispensary. The man who fled in the BMW is believed to be the victim's accomplice and police are still looking for him. Anyone with information should call LAPD's homicide detectives at 310-482-6313.
