Next Week Ride Metro For Fifty Cents on 18 Bus Lines
Dig through your couch, friends, because starting Sunday, February 18, through the 24th, there will be a chance for people all over LA County to enjoy the bus for just two stinking quarters.
Officials say that even though we often find ourselves in dire gridlock, and gas prices so high that $2.50 a gallon seems like a bargain, and ever-growing road rage, there are still many locals who haven't ever ridden a bus in LA.
“Even amidst Los Angeles’ ever-worsening traffic problem, there are millions of people who have never tried public transportation – either our buses or our rail system,” said Metro CEO Roger Snoble. “Metro was recently named ‘America’s Best Public Transportation System’ and we hope that this reduced fare week will encourage those who live and work in Los Angeles to check us out and try a different approach to commuting.
After the jump see the lines that will be chopping their one-way fare by more than half next week, and may we suggest that if there is one that can take you back and forth from work, and if you've never commuted to work before on the bus -- try it for at least one day next week. You might be pleasantly surprised not only by how easy it is, but how much quicker than you imagined it is.
