Burbank pet owners are on high alert after a poodle was taken from a backyard to be a mountain lion's afternoon snack.The mountain lion was spotted on Saturday afternoon in the 500 block of North Sunset Canyon Drive, right in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains. Before the puma dashed off into the wild, it snatched a poodle from a backyard Burbank Police told the L.A. Times.

Police are advising residents to keep pets indoors at dawn, dusk and at night, not to keep pet food outside, and to trim vegetation around their property, giving the animals fewer hiding places.
