Good day, LAists! This report makes it to you only slightly hungover, so you are now honorbound to go out and have a good time because LAist is working hard (against a hangover) to bring you tonight's events.
AIGA/LA has a special lecture: "Spaced Out: Double Dutch, The Word of Image" at MOCA at California Plaza. Dutch designers Frans Oosterhof, Mieke Grritzen, Max Bruinsma and Jan Middendorp will present their work and their unique perspective on the place of design in the new global economy. Attendees also receive a font book that includes the work of over 40 Dutch and American designers with essays by tonight's speakers. The reception begins at 6:30 PM and the presentation at 7:30 PM. Admission is $40 at the door for non-members and $20 for student non-members. You can pre-register here (which knocks $10 off the ticket price).
At the Silverlake Lounge you can see Southern blues/folk/country/rock band Souled American with Gliss and At Dusk starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $10.00.
Tonight AFI at ArcLight presents the final night of the Music Documentary Series, featuring John E. Edwards is in Love at 8:00 PM. Following the film, directors Chris Bradley and Kyle La Brache, producers Patrick Bradley and Ryan Magnussen, and Jon E. Edwards will be in attendance for a Q&A session. After the Q&A is a reception with a set from John E. Edwards and DJs from Amoeba Music.
