Two children went missing this weekend after telling a friend they were taking a bus to Venice Beach. Timothy Reed, 14, and Ashley Montes, 12, are both students at Twain Middle School in Mar Vista, KTLA reports. They were last seen near the school on Saturday afternoon at about 4 p.m. The pair indicated to a friend they were planning on taking a bus to Venice Beach, though investigators are not sure if they ever got on the bus. Bus no. 33 would have been about a 20-minute ride to the beach from the school. Both children have cell phones, but neither have answered any calls.

The children are friends and have no history of running away, according to LAPD Officer Mike Lopez. The children's parents couldn't recall any recent fights or reasons why they would want to run away. However, the police have no reason to suspect foul play at this time.

Montes is a 12-year-old Hispanic girl, 4’8” and 80 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Reed is a 14-year-old Hispanic boy, 5’7” and 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information should call the LAPD's Pacific Area at 310-482-6334.
