Mayor's Office Gets a New Twitter Account So Villaraigosa Can Get Personal
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is inching closer to his next step in his political career, and today his office made the impending separation more pronounced via contemporary culture's most popular medium: Twitter.
Now, to keep up with Los Angeles' civic leader, the Twitter account has been converted to @LAMayorsOffice. If you were previously following @villaraigosa, you'll automatically be following the new one, but if you want to keep up with Villaraigosa himself, you'll have to follow his new personal account (which happens to be.... @villaraigosa).
Villaraigosa explained the changeup:
To provide you with more real-time updates from my administration, my staff will now manage this account, renamed “@LAMayorsOffice.” -AV
— MayorOfLA (@MayorOfLA) June 14, 2012
He also invited everyone to join the fun on his personal account:
"You can follow my new personal account at @villaraigosa" -AV

He's only a couple of Tweets in, but they seem to be about one thing so far: Him!
We can expect more scripted, less spontaneous content on the @LAMayorsOffice account, but they seem to only be looking to talk to people who make "popular comments" (whatever that means):
We will now be better equipped to respond to popular comments for @LAMayorsOffice and look forward to hearing from you!
