Mayor Yawn

We need to hear from you.
Today during our spring member drive, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership. Thank you.

Jimmy the Kid works to suck up to Larry David as he backs a plan to allow hybrid vehicles to park at metered spots for free. The move, proposed to the Council by electric car enthusiast and all-around slick dude Eric Garcetti, is designed to inspire people to buy low emission vehicles.Combine this with the press conference announcing fix-ups a few intersections (which, as some have noted, is just the continuation of an existing program), and Hahn's looking pretty superficial these days. LAist isn't even sure if this "reform" is wise - while meters are annoying, they serve an important purpose by regulating street parking in busy areas. It's tough enough to find a spot near the Venice boardwalk during prime people-watching hours: the city shouldn't make it even harder in an effort to appear conspicuously green.

As Hahn says, "I think it will be fun." Whew. What a visionary.
