Man's Legs Severed After Driver Pins Him Against Wood Chipper In Silver Lake

A man's legs were severed and another man's leg was broken after a driver rammed them with her car while they were loading a wood chipper a Silver Lake street on Thursday.

The two workers' truck and wood chipper were parked next to the curb on Glendale Boulevard near Bancroft Avenue when the 72-year-old driver, who was going about 30 to 40 mph, struck them from behind around 3:10 p.m., The Eastsider reported.

The 29-year-old man's legs were severed between his knee and ankle and the 19-year-old's leg was broken in the crash. Both men and the driver were taken to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating what caused the crash.
