Abc7.com is reporting that "Scientology Celebrity Centre security guards in Hollywood have shot and killed a sword-wielding man in their parking lot." According to early reports, the incident took place close to noontime today, when a man with a sword "went onto the grounds of the Scientology facility at 5930 Franklin Ave." The man was apparently "approached by security personnel who later shot him in the parking lot of the center." He was transported from the scene to County USC Medical Center and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man's identity has not been released, and it is not clear why he was on the property or carrying a sword.
