Man Shot During Fight In Westwood Village
A man was shot in Westwood Village after witnesses say a fight spilled out from a nearby bar.
Around 2 a.m., early Sunday morning, a 26-year old man was shot on the 1000 block of Broxton Avenue. The altercation took place in a parking lot that's next to a Barney's Beanery and adjacent to the bar O'Hara's. It is essentially in the heart of Westwood Village, near the movie theaters and a Starbucks open late for UCLA students.
"What we know now is that there was a fight between some males and the victim got knocked out, and as soon as he got up he just felt a sharp pain in his chest and heard a shot," Los Angeles Police Department Sergeant Romero Ruezga told KTLA.
The victim was transported to the UCLA medical center and is said to be in stable condition after getting shot in the chest.. It is unknown if he is a UCLA student.
Police told NBC 4 that surveillance footage from nearby businesses will be gathered in piecing together the events. City News Service says four males fled from the scene in a silver-colored Nissan.
Update [4:00]: Police have updated the description of the vehicle and said the victim left Barney's Beanery before the shooting took place.
