Man Shot By Sheriff's Deputy At Downtown Santa Monica Expo Line Station [UPDATED]
A man was shot by a Sheriff's deputy at an Expo Line station in Santa Monica just before 1 p.m. Tuesday. He is said to have lunged at Sheriff's deputies on the Expo Line platform while holding two knives, according to a tweet from KNX reporter Claudia Peschiutta. The man was taken to a local hospital, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. Alexander told LAist that the deputies were uninjured. Peschiutta reports that the man who was shot is expected to survive.

The incident occurred at the Downtown Santa Monica station, at Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue. KTLA reports that a man who appeared to be bleeding was taken into an ambulance around 1:15 p.m., according to their aerial footage.
The downtown Santa Monica Expo station is currently closed, and Metro is offering bus shuttles in service between the Downtown Santa Monica station and the 17th Street/Santa Monica College station, according to a Metro representative. We will update this story as it develops.
