A man was shot twice in the chest outside of the Silver Lake Del Taco at West Sunset Boulevard and Fountain Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The shooting suspect remains at large and was last seen driving eastbound on Sunset Boulevard, according to CBS Los Angeles. The incident prompted a lockdown at the nearby Thomas Starr King Middle School as LAPD searched for the shooter.

Update: Detective Meghan Aguilar tells LA Weekly that the shooting suspect was described as a teenaged boy no older than 17. She says the attack was "potentially gang-related." The suspect was seen fleeing in a "dark vehicle" and the victim is a 20-year-old male who has yet to be identified by authorities.
