Man Shot And Killed Outside Of Gold Line Station
A man was shot and killed just outside of a Metro Gold Line station on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department say the man was approached by three men in their 20s around 7:15 p.m. street-level elevator to the Soto station, near the intersection of Soto and East 1st Streets in Boyle Heights. A verbal confrontation ensued, and one of the three men pulled a gun out and shot the victim "numerous" times. The men then fled on foot, westbound down East 1st Street.
The victim was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
While there are surveillance cameras at the street level of the Soto station, investigators did not say whether the shooting was captured on video.
"I've been born and raised in East L.A. and this is what we see every single day," Sheila Flores told KTLA. "Ambulances—you hear them all night long. You can't even sleep."
The Soto station was closed after the shooting but later reopened just before 5:45 a.m., Sunday morning:
