Man Arrested For Torturing The Woman He Had Just Started Dating
A man has been arrested for the alleged kidnapping and torture of a woman he had been dating for a matter of days. Timothy John Hayes, 33, is accused of imprisoning the 27-year-old woman in his home Monday evening in the 500 block of Jeffrey Drive in San Luis Obispo, where he restrained her with tape. Police say he spent two hours torturing her with various objects including scissors, a knife and a pool cue, as well as hot kitchen utensils, The SLO Tribune reports.
The woman said she was able to escape talk Hayes down and convince him to loosen the tape. Then, she ran to her car and drove to a nearby Chevron gas station at about 11:30 p.m. Police say she had sustained "significant injuries," including burn marks, cuts, bruises and swelling as a result of the attack, and that her hair was tangled in tape. She was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
When police arrived with a warrant to Hayes' home, they say he appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. They also found the same tape that was tangled in the woman's hair, and the weapons she had described, plus two guns.
He's been booked on torture, kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic battery and mayhem.
