The Clippers drafted arguably the best player in the NBA Draft yesterday, by selecting high school phenom Shaun Livingston. The 6-6 point guard has exceptional passing skills and could wind up being a mini-Magic Johnson.

The Clippers could have gone with college point guard like Devin Harris of Wisconsin, who would have had a better 2004-05 season, but a veteran point guard could be just as effective for this year as the Clips wait for Livingston to develop.

The Lakers also made good by selecting Slovenian guard Sasha Vujacic. He's another 6-6 player who can run the point and defend three positions. At the tender age of 20, he's already been seasoned by three years playing professionally in Europe and could very well evolve into a solid starter for the Lakers in the future.

Don't expect either team's second round pick--guard Lionel Chambers out of Xavier for the Clippers and forward Marcus Douthit from Providence for the Lakers--to have any realistic impact.
