Maybe so as not to let Amanda Bynes get too many headlines for traffic incidents, actress Lindsay Lohan managed to get busted early this morning in New York City for "leaving the scene of an accident and causing injury after allegedly striking a pedestrian while driving in the Meatpacking District," explains Gothamist.

Though she was ultimately issued just a desk appearance ticket for allegedly unsuccessfully navigating a 2010 black Porsche Cayenne SUV through a large crowd and "clipping" a pedestrian, the incident could impact her legal status at home in Los Angeles.

"Former L.A. prosecutor Dmitry Gorin said Wednesday that Lohan's arrest could prompt a judge in Los Angeles to conclude the star has violated her probation," according to L.A. Now.

Lohan's ongoing status as a probationer stems from a 2007 DUI conviction, and her role in a shoplifting case more recently. Though a judge declared Lohan done with probation for the DUI charges, Lohan found herself on probation again, this time as unsupervised until May 2014, with the only caveat being that Lohan not get into any trouble with the law.

Also posing a problem for the starlet is the possibility she lied to police investigators about the extent of her role in a recent car-versus-truck crash on Pacific Coast Highway.

It is possible, however, that these new NYC charges against Lohan be dropped.
