Dallas Stars defeat Anaheim Ducks 3-1. The Ducks continued to be outplayed by the Stars as goalie Marty Turco came within seven seconds of shutting out the Ducks. Duck's center Brian Sutherby, who had scored only one goal early on in the season, thought he had tied the game in the second period but was called off after a video review for kicking the puck in the net. Down three games to one, the Ducks now have to take care of business at home tonight to avoid being the fourth consecutive reigning Stanley Cup Champion to not make the second round of the playoffs.

LA Angels over Kansas City Royals 5-3. Brett "Bombko" Tomko showed what a stiff he is by giving up five earned runs in seven innings to the Angels. Jon Garland righted his ship by going 6 1/3 innings and giving up only two runs. Angel's closer Frankie Rodriguez looked shaky in the ninth but managed the save despite giving up a run.

Ed Roski held his press conference at the Staples Center yesterday about building an NFL stadium in the City of Industry. It will not be publicly funded which means no new taxes. Also ground will not be broken on the project until a team has agreed to move to LA. While looking at the pretty pictures and some of the details has me more impressed about it than previous plans, I'm not going to hold my breath. I'll believe it when it happens. Secretly I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

In blogging news, a writer for Kissing Suzy Kolber was fired from his day job at the Washington Post. After Michael Tunison (aka Christmas Ape) revealed himself, the Post fired him saying he "brought 'disgrace to the paper' for [his] choosing to drink at bars during [his] free time." In the spirit of full disclosure my employer knows I write for LAist, I use my real name and the drink of the LAist sport's crew is the liquid cocaine.

UCLA freshman center Kevin Love and sophomore guard Russell Westbrook announced yesterday they will declare for the NBA draft. Both players have not hired an agent yet meaning they would still have eligibility left should they change their minds. If they choose to continue both look to be top 20 picks with some places having them as high as top 10. Guard Darren Collison has yet to announce his intentions.

Seattle Mariners at LA Angels. RA Dickey makes the start for the Mariners in place of Erik Bedard who was placed on the DL for a sore left hip. Joe Saunders goes for the Angels looking to continue his hot streak and 1.27 ERA. 7:05 pm FSN West, AM 830 KLAA.

LA Dodgers at Atlanta Braves. Andruw Jones will most likely get a warmer reception at Turner Field than he does at Dodger Stadium tonight. Hopefully his offense will get rejuvenated while at his former home. Meanwhile Derek Lowe will start for the Dodgers against Jeff Bennett. What are the odds that Juan Pierre will start? 4:30pm KCAL 9, AM 790 KABC.
