L.A.'s 10 Most Popular Searches, According to Google

The L.A. Public Library system ranked #5 | Photo by stevecadman via Flickr
Google recently came out with its year-end Zeitgeist, featuring the "most popular for 2009"--globally, it was Michael Jackson--including "popular searches unique to specific U.S. cities." Here's how Los Angeles fared:
1. lausd
2. arclight hollywood
3. ucla library
4. lakers schedule
5. lapl
6. citrus college
7. riverside superior court
8. la county fair
9. unemployment california
10. arrowhead credit union
It's no surprise that the behemoth L.A. Unified School District tops the list, but who knew the Arclight Hollywood yielded so much interest (what about Arclight Sherman Oaks, huh?). It's nice to know we're so bookish with UCLA's library and the Los Angeles Public Library at numbers 3 and 5 with some Lakers pride stuck between.
Citrus College in the San Gabriel Valley and the Riverside Superior Court are head scratchers, along with San Bernardino's Arrowhead Credit Union. No doubt that the L.A. County fair is popular, but perhaps the most appropriate term for this zeitgeist list are searches for unemployment in California.
