Thanks to the magic of YouTube, the only things aspiring broadcast journalists need to show off their talent are a camera and an Internet connection. That's it. Talent, an ability to read and a studio that isn't your parents' basement are all optional. In such a crowded space, though, it's difficult to stand out among the crowd and bring in the page views, especially with a gifted wordsmith like Kige Ramsey winning over the hearts and minds of Internet viewers around the world.

The young lady in this YouTube clip, however, just might have what it takes. Introducing YouTube Sports' newest correspondent, Katie Couric.

From the green room of Live! With Regis & Kelly, yesterday Couric busted out her Flip Cam and conducted an impromptu interview with Dodgers manager Joe Torre. Couric shows she is both resourceful and gutsy, scoring a hot interview like Joe on a moment's notice. Those are two attributes that will help her go a long way - a really long way, actually. Heck, maybe even a gig anchoring a national network's flagship news show.

One thing she may want to work on though is her knowledge of Los Angeles. The "lots of plastic surgery out there?" question sounds like something your sheltered aunt from the East Coast, not a worldly and reputable journalist, would ask.
