June is Adopt a Cat Month

Before you
Dear reader, we're asking you to help us keep local news available for all. Your tax-deductible financial support keeps our stories free to read, instead of hidden behind paywalls. We believe when reliable local reporting is widely available, the entire community benefits. Thank you for investing in your neighborhood.

Hello, kitty lovers! The same group that brought you Be Kind to Animals Week in early May has designated June as Adopt-a-Cat Month.

The American Humane Association selected June to honor our feline friends because spring time is "kitten season," when local shelters become littered with litters of cats that need adopting into good homes. The month of observation has been formalized recognized in Congress, but your part can be simple, if you're ready to bring a cat into your life. Learn more about cat ownership, and visit your local shelter to find the cat that's right for you.
