Police are looking for a 53-year-old Santa Ana man who is charged with repeatedly raping a 16-year-old girl.Santa Ana police are searching for Jose Gerrado Espiritu, 53, who is accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend's 16-year-old relative, the OC Register reports. Authorities say Espiritu was arrested and charged in early March and appeared in court six times after posting bail. However, he didn't show up for his court date on Sept. 1, and he's still missing. A fugitive warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Police say that on Feb. 28, Espiritu and his girlfriend, Luz Herrera, got into a fight at the 500 Club, located in the 500 block of S. Main Street in Santa Ana. Herrera ended up leaving the bar on foot, alone.

At about 1:30 a.m., Espiritu talked Herrera's 16-year-old relative into accompanying him to go look for her. However, he instead drove her to an undisclosed location where police say he used force to sexually assault her several times. He returned her home at 5 a.m., where she immediately told her family, who called the police. Espirito was arrested on March 1 at 4:15 p.m., according to a release. He was booked on rape, lewd acts with a minor and sodomy by force.

Santa Ana Cpl. Anthony Bertanga said that authorities don't know where Espiritu is, but that Herrera is worried he may still be in Santa Ana.
