How do you get over the hill expeditiously?

Last night we walked our talk, as we often do, and headed over to Firecracker in Chinatown after a few early drinks at The Sapphire on Ventura Blvd. When the time came to drive over the hill, two routes to Chinatown were obvious: 101 all the way or take 4 different freeways.

Not only is it fun to say, but the 101 to the 134 to the 5 to the 110 (with a quick exit on Hill Street) works much better than the 101 into downtown on a Friday night. Some of our Valley friends found that out the hard way, driving past three collisions.

Other fast over-the-hill routes that we enjoy:

Support for LAist comes from

- Laurel Canyon to Hollywood Blvd. (the back road to Hollywood & WeHo)
- Coldwater Canyon into Beverly Hills (much quicker than freeway to street travel)
- Kanan to PCH (screw 405 to Sunset, come to the beach without hassle)

Nice rides, but not neccesarily time saving:

- Beverly Glen into the Westside
- Through Griffith Park
- Topanga Canyon to PCH
