CA Earns 15 (of 20!) Spots On 'Most Economically Stressed' List
Results are in for the December 2010 "Economic Stress Index" and things are downright pewter in the Golden State. The Associated Press index ranks counties with populations of 25,000 or more and calculates a score from 1 to 100 based on "unemployment, foreclosure and bankruptcy," reports CBS Local. Among the nation's 20 Most Economically Stressed counties, 15 of them are in California.
Riverside County hits the list at #18 scoring a soaring 21.03, while Kern County enters the charts at #16 with 21.22. Most of the other counties listed are located in Central and Northern Cal. The higher the score, the higher the stress, and anything over an 11 is generally considered "stressed."
The latest list also includes a roundup of the "Least Economically Stressed" counties in America. Unfortunately, you'll have to go to Nebraska to see one of those for yourself.
