Gas Leak In Hollywood Prompts Evacuation Of Over 100 People

A gas line ruptured Saturday morning in the middle of Hollywood, prompting the evacuation of over 100 people in the area.The six-inch gas line was broken by an LADWP crew a contractor doing DWP work just before 11:30 a.m. on North Cahuenga Boulevard near Yucca Street. According to ABC 7, over 100 people and 10 pets were evacuated from six buildings in the area, and about 35 people were being told to shelter in place.

Drivers should avoid the area along North Cahuenga Boulevard between the 101 freeway and Hollywood Boulevard as the Los Angeles Fire Department and SoCalGas work to fix the problem, which could take hours according to Erik Scott of LAFD.
