A 13-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of stabbing his mother, reports KCBS.

Garden Grove resident Barbara Scheuer-Souzer was taken to an area hospital Wednesday night where she died of stab wounds sustained to her abdomen. According to authorities, it is believed that Scheuer-Souzer was fatally stabbed by her 13-year-old son.

Garden Grove Police responded to a call around 5:45 p.m. yesterday night from a delivery man who had passed Scheuer-Souzer's home and saw her on the ground out front bleeding. The stabbing occurred on the 11000 block of Gilbert Street.

"We have not yet established a motive for the incident," Lt. Carl Whitney of the Garden Grove Police Department told LAist. "The boy [whose identity will remain anonymous] was discovered about half-a-mile away from the home at a shopping center. He was alone and walking."
