Gouda is good, feta is fabulous, and taleggio is terrific. Today we rejoice in the cheese-y goodness of...cheese. As we celebrated in '10, we celebrate again this year the goofy joy that is National Cheese Lover's Day.

It's hard to love just one cheese, but it's perfectly acceptably to be a big ol' cheese-lovin' polygamist. The world is full of cheeses of all kinds: Cow, Sheep, or Goat! Hard, soft, or in-between! Stinky! Creamy! How many kinds? Here's an alphabetical list to get you started.

In the meantime, check out the glory that is cheese lovin' in Los Angeles via some photos from the last 365 days of cheese in its many manifestations via the hungry eyes of our LAist Featured Photos pool on Flickr.
