A bar in Hollywood learned the lesson that you can't please everyone, and tonight they're celebrating.Bartender of note Jeremy Lake opened Lost Property at Hollywood and Vine last fall. So far whiskey lovers, critics and Yelpers have had mostly good things to say about their experience there. But then one patron came along who was not pleased enough by the rare whiskeys to ignore the bottles of Burnett's. She gave the bar a dreaded 1-star review on Yelp, and they responded by reaching out to see if there's something they could do to change her mind and the review. She wouldn't budge.

There's a lot of anxiety that the Hollywood bar scene is losing its edge, as dive bars make way for labor-intensive, spendy cocktails. But the 1-star Yelper believes that we should expect more in Hollywood. Here's the updated review:

The owner private messaged me. He was polite, but clearly upset I gave his bar 1 star. He tried to convince me to come in so I could give the bar a higher rating. I am sorry. This is a 1 star bar in my mind. I do not like feeling pressured to have to change my mind in order to make the business owner feel happy. I'm sorry but you are a bar owner, you have to admit you are not going to make everyone happy. Let everyone be entitled to their opinions. This encounter (albeit polite) has truly upset me and has made me dislike this establishment even more. They make their cocktails with Burnett's. Burnett's.... The kind of vodka that you can buy in a plastic bottle for $6.99 per liter. I'm sorry I thought I was at a bar in Hollywood not a tailgate in Bloomington, Indiana.

Bottom line: Avoid. There's so many better bars in the area that don't use Burnett's.

Lost Property decided to embrace the bad review, and tonight they're offering $1 cocktails to commemorate their first 1-star review:

Well, not everyone is as pleased with our spirits selection as we are and decided to leave us our first ever 1 Star Yelp review We know we have to take Yelp with a grain of salt and we welcome all criticisms and promise to work hard to learn and grow from them.

We tried everything we could to please this anonymous reviewer, but nothing worked. So, rather than be upset over it, we decide to embrace it and throw a party and let all of our locals benefit from it

From 6 pm to 8 pm, all Burnett's Vodka cocktails will be $1. If the college dorm staple isn't your thing, however, they'll have Heaven Hill Distilleries on hand to educate your sophisticated palate and offer pours of Heaven Hill whiskies.
