Got Money to Burn? Try This $100 Margarita With Schmancy Tequila, Edible Gold & Cognac 'Caviar' From Red O
Feel like blowing $100 on a drink? Then Red O has just the cocktail for you, moneybags.
Thrillist LA put together a video showing how Steve Calabro, the cocktail designer over at Red O, designed the $100 3-shot margarita:
If I was going to pay $100 for a margarita, what I would want in it is the most prestigious or highest quality tequilas, so I picked three of my favorites: Patron Burdeos, Partida Elegante and Herradura Seleccion Suprema. Instead of just normal Triple Sec we would want Grand Marier 150.
Our pastry chef here came up with a lime sorbet in addition to fresh lime juice...organic agave syrup...edible gold rim mixed with salt...a stainless steel straw and then to top it off we made "caviar" out of fresh orange juice and [inaudible] orange cognac with it. This is a whole unique margarita.
Discuss amongst yourselves how this richie-rich drink shifts the debate over the authenticity of the Mexican cuisine at Red O.
