Get Free House-Made Soft Serve In Silver Lake On Thursday
It's hot. Maybe you'd like some free ice cream? Silver Lake's newest dessert spot, Magpies Softserve, is opening up this Thursday and to celebrate, they're offering free ice cream, according to Eater LA. Their Thursday hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and they'll be serving free treats all day.
Owners Warren and Rose Schwartz won't be using any powders or mixes familiar to fans of roadside soft serve joints, but will instead be crafting their ice cream in-house. According to Magpies' website, the couple was looking to do a "chef-y Dairy Queen" and to "expand the flavors of typical soft serve ice cream from the traditional vanilla and chocolate by creating flavors of soft serve that bring us back to our childhood, flavors that inspired us to become chefs."
Some of these flavors include blueberry cobbler, malted milk chocolate, horchata, cortadito (sweet Cuban espresso), yuzu honey (traditional Korean tea), Thai iced tea, strawberry rhubarb, and sweet corn and honey. They also plan to offer a variety of fun toppings, plus cold brew coffee floats and shakes.
Magpies is located at 2660 Griffith Park Blvd. in Silver Lake, 323-486-7094
