WeHo's new faux beach is offering free coffee and snacks to those who come to check it out this Sunday. Beach Nation functions kind of like a cafe. But instead of sitting at a table, guests recline in patio furniture on a deck. The dog-friendly space has palm trees, tall sea grasses rustling in the breeze and sand to sink your toes into—but it's also across the street Hamburger Mary's on busy Santa Monica Blvd.

The space was designed by Thomas Schoos, who also designed spaces in the Tao in Las Vegas and New York, The Wilshire Restaurant, the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica and the homes of Courtney Cox and Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Food-wise, they serve breakfast items, fresh sandwiches and salads, breads and pastries, and Barefoot Coffee, teas and juices.

On Sunday, they're hosting an event to get to know the neighbors better. They'll be giving away free coffee and samples of their menu from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Morning's offerings include hot coffee, breakfast paninis and Rockenwagner pastries, while afternoon's freebies include iced coffee, sandwiches and salads. There will also be giveaways and raffles.
