Burger Chain Unveils A 100% Bacon Patty (Topped With Bacon, Of Course)
A couple strips of bacon on top of a beef patty seems like a half-measure when you consider the new all-bacon burger rolled out by Southern California's own burger chain Slater's 50/50.
The chain made a name for itself (literally) with a 50/50 burger that's half ground beef and half ground bacon. But the company decided to go all the way with its new "The ‘merica" burger that is made completely with ground bacon, according to Foodbeast. If that's not enough bacon for ya, the patty is topped with a thick slice of bacon, a sunny side up egg, "bacon" island dressing and bacon cheddar cheese.
The burger will only be offered for a limited time for the month of July at its locations in Anaheim, Huntington Beach and San Diego.
The Orange County Weekly's food blog has more information about the inspiration (baconspiration?) for the new burger from a press release:
"The concept for Slater's 50/50 Burgers by Design came out of a dare at a Charger's tailgate party between owner Scott Slater and some of his San Diego State University buddies. Could a 100 percent ground bacon burger work? After some tweaking and perfecting (and a few small grease fires), the answer was yes."
Is it worth a drive down to Orange County?
