Franklin Avenue is asking its readers where one can find the best Dutch Apple pie in LA.

As if they don't know.

As if a blog called Franklin Avenue would even have to ask such a question when the answer is on the corner of Franklin Avenue and Vermont.

LAist isn't crazy about the $8-9 price for the House of Pies Dutch Apple pie but it's clearly the city's best. The crust is soft where it should be soft and crunchy in the right places. The apples are warm and sweet.

We have tried cheaper Dutch Apple pies and they've all failed. Sometimes there's no parking at the House of Pies so we use the parking at the post office and feel guilty. But only for a minute because thats all the time it takes to give them your money and get your pie.

Speaking of the Los Feliz post office, it sucks that they have shortened their hours from 7pm to 5:30pm. Yes we know they're still open till 7pm but they have signs that say that mail received after 5:30pm wont go out till the next day.

Maybe when LAist gets it together we'll ask our readers to clue us in to post offices in town that are truly open until 7pm.
