A first-time motorcyclist who wasn't wearing a helmet died after his bike drifted into oncoming traffic in Brea on Tuesday night.

Marcus Ledezma, 20, who was traveling eastbound on Imperial Highway near Gemini Avenue around 11:25 p.m, crashed his motorcycle into a Mercedes SUV after he crossed into the westbound lanes, Brea police told the O.C. Register and City News Service. Ledezma was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver was not injured.

Ledezma's friend Ivan Ramirez told a videographer at the scene that Ledezma borrowed his motorcycle, but had never had any experience riding one before, reported City News Service. The crash occurred just 150 yards from Ramirez's home, which is where Ledezma had taken off.

Justin Brooks, who was on that road when the crash occurred, told City News Service that he witnessed the incident and didn't see Ledezma's motorcycle headlights on.
