  • The marine wanted in connection to the murder of a fellow Camp Pendleton marine has been arrested in Texas. Pfc. Alvin Reed Lovely had been a fugitive since last week and was found at a relative's home.
  • Juan Alvarez, who is on trial for 11 counts of murder, admitted in court today that he was once a meth addict. Alvarez claimed that while he withdrew from the drug he felt depressed and suicidal; his desire to kill himself led him to park his SUV on Metrolink tracks in 2005, causing the train's derailment and the 11 deaths. He exited the vehicle prior to the crash.
  • There's a lockdown in the OC, but it's not at the jail. Instead, homes abandoned due to foreclosure are now on tap to be boarded up and secured by building officials who believe so many empty residences are becoming dangerous.
  • Besides the fact that by and large it's an overhyped tourist trap with pricey parking and little charm, there's now one more reason why Universal CityWalk is a place no one (or no teenaged girl) should go.
  • It's a blog-eat-blog world out there, kids. And Megan McCardle blogs about one blog around this town she isn't too fond of. Ouch!
  • And in more tales of blogging blarghs, LA-based writer Laura Lane tells the USA Todaywhy she decided to take down her Lakers blog after writing up a run-in with Vanessa Bryant (a certain player's missus).
