The house the mouse--that's Mickey to you and me--built opened on July 17, 1955. Happy birthday, Disneyland!

The Anaheim playground for children of all ages as envisioned by the now-legendary Walt Disney enjoyed much fanfare for its debut. The theme park had a big two-day opening event, with day one (Dedication Day) being for invited guests and the media only, and open to the public the following day, July 18.
