It's an election year, which means that we're being treated to not one but two profane political ads from comedian Sarah Silverman.

Silverman tackles the crop of new voter ID laws as only Silverman can in a new spot sponsored by the Jewish Council for Education and Research: "Hey black people, old people, poor people and students! Lawmakers are trying to fuck you in your assholes."

She encourages voters who don't have the correct identification to make sure that they do what they need to do to make their vote count this November. She reminds students in Tennessee that they won't be allowed to use their student ID as a valid form of ID. She proposes that they go out and get gun permits, which are considered valid (no, really).

Sponsors of strict voter ID laws say that they're a way to cut down on voting fraud, even though cases of fraud are very rare. Critics of the laws—including Silverman—contend that the raft of new laws are being crafted to disenfranchise the kind of demographics that tend to go for Obama.

These voter ID laws haven't showed up in the Golden State, which is considered solid Obama territory. In fact, the state says it's trying to make it easier for voters to register: this week for the first time Californians can do their voter register online.

During the last election, Silverman encouraged voters to make The Great Schlep to Florida to encourage their grandparents in the swing state to vote for Obama. This year she offered to scissor the 78-year-old casino magnate Sheldon Adelson if he gave $100 million to Obama instead of Mitt Romney.
