Video: Ellen DeGeneres Dances Her Way To The 2014 Oscars With 250 Dancers
Ellen DeGeneres is getting us amped up early for the Oscars by basically showing us just how charming she is in the first promo for the awards show.
In the upbeat trailer, which was directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) and set to the tune of Fitz & The Tantrums' "The Walker," we have DeGeneres suiting up with a growing group of 250 tuxedo-wearing dancers. They tap their way through way through streets, and it all feels pretty much like a nod to Barney Stinson's suits dance in How I Met Your Mother.
This is DeGeneres' second time in hosting the awards show, which will take place on March 2, 2014. She hosted back in 2007, and it's looking like she'll appeal to the masses much more than the edgy and controversial host from last year, Seth MacFarlane.
Heck, it may be early for the Oscars since we haven't even seen the nomination announcements come out yet, but even the behind-the-scenes look at it is even cheery and amusing:
-
Donald Trump was a fading TV presence when the WGA strike put a dent in network schedules.
-
Pickets are being held outside at movie and TV studios across the city
-
For some critics, this feels less like a momentous departure and more like a footnote.
-
Disneyland's famous "Fantasmic!" show came to a sudden end when its 45-foot animatronic dragon — Maleficent — burst into flames.
-
Leads Ali Wong and Steven Yeun issue a joint statement along with show creator Lee Sung Jin.

Every two years, Desert X presents site-specific outdoor installations throughout the Coachella Valley. Two Los Angeles artists have new work on display.
