Valentine's Day Prom @ Alcove's Big Bar

We can't help but wonder if we redid our high school prom as adults, it would be way more fun. Well, now here's your chance to relive a night where you get all gussied up and don't have to spike your own drinks while you dance. Big Bar is holding their prom with the theme of "Carnival Cabaret." Staff will be dressed up in burlesque and cabaret costumes, and there will be a magician, fortune teller (with a smoking crystal ball), balloon artist, fun house mirrors, and a photo booth. In addition to some delicious libations, they'll also be making some absinthe cotton candy. This takes plan in the evening on Feb. 14 and you can find more info here.

On Feb. 14, UCB also presents the "It's the Dating Game Show," an improv show in which an unsuspecting audience member gets a shot at love (well, it's mostly for laughs, but who knows?!).

Speed-Dating On The Metro Red Line

We're sure you've seen enough romantic movies where two strangers meet on a train, discover an instant connection and fall in love. Well, let's take that up a notch. The Metro Red Line is hosting a speed-dating event on Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. After you register for the event between 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. that day at specific train stops (more info about the train schedules for registration here), you step into the train cars that are decorated with hearts where you'll have 2-minute interviews with each date. You can play musical chairs or even board a different train to meet your match. And in case you're worried you might meet someone you'd rather not, the whole event is facilitated by Metro staff.
