TV Junkie: Weekend Edition
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year, you should know that the Olympics start this weekend. Tonight the enormous super-choreographed extravaganza known as the Opening Ceremonies will take hours of your life away from you. Over the next couple weeks, TV Junkie will show what's on Prime Time as well as any events that should be highlighted depending upon how the games go.
8:00pm The Olympic Summer Games NBC - The opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Olympics takes place in Beijing.

9:00pm Primeval BBC America - Series Premiere. Evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter discovers prehistoric creatures alive and well in the present day. TV Junkie previewed the first couple episodes of this show: it's an interesting idea but the CGI is very very average. If they used less CGI, focused more on the story, and letting the viewer use their own imagination (like the old Doctor Who shows), this would have been a passably enjoyable science fiction show.
9:00pm Monster Ark Sci Fi - An archaeologist and team try to uncover the secret behind remnants of a ship in a remote desert.
8:00pm The Olympic Summer Games NBC - Swimming finals: men's 100m breaststroke, 4x100m freestyle relay, women's 100m butterfly, 400m freestyle; gymnastics, women's team competition; diving, springboard synchronized final.
9:00pm Generation Kill HBO - First Recon learns of an ambush on a bridge ahead from Iraqi locals; although LAVs assault the bridge first, Bravo still encounters complications when they cross.
10:00pm The Two Coreys A&E - Corey Haim is confronted by his mother, assistant and Corey Feldman over his drug use.
10:00pm Mad Men AMC - Betty and Don (Jon Hamm) try to appease an angry client with a friendly dinner.
