TV Junkie: Obama-Leno Ratings; Leno on 'Top Gear'
"Top Gear" on BBC America @ 8pm
According to the LA Times, about 1 in 4 TVs were tuned to "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" when President Barack Obama made an appearance last week. Leno has had higher ratings only 3 other times in the past, but the media space is a lot more crowded than it was even 4 years ago, so it was a stellar night for NBC.In Renewal Land: IFC's "Media Project" will return this May with at least 5 new episodes. Chris Matthews has signed on to 4 more years of hosting "Hardball".
Last night's season finale of "Big Love" was pretty amazing - an excellent script, well-acted, and the previews for next season, of course, only raise a crap-load more questions. Although not as garish as the series finale of "Battlestar Galactica", it somehow felt better. Who are we kidding? It looks like BSG will be spawning spinoffs for quite some time.
Although "The Tonight Show" isn't highlighted, you can see Leno in this night's edition of "Top Gear" (8pm BBC America) - there will be a tour of his garage, and a lot of car talk, and Leno knows his cars and might show those Brits a thing or two. Plus: the boys put the Tesla on the test track!
