TV Junkie: Presidential Address; Finales for 'Leverage' + '10 Items or Less'; TV Viewing Trends; Happy Birthday Abe Vigoda
We have a host of finales tonight but the ones to keep an eye on are Timothy Hutton's "Leverage" (10pm on TNT, pictured right) and John Lehr's "10 Items or Less" (11pm on USA). Of local note, KNBC will be doing a special at 9pm on their historical 60 years of broadcasting in Los Angeles. KNBC helped define the medium of television and is due many accolades for it's services to the community over these 6 decades.According to Nielsen, we now have confirmation that DVRs are making it easier for people to watch even more TV, as TV viewing for Americans "older than 2 years" has now increased to 151 hours per month, a 5 hour per month increase over last year. On average, folks watched less than 3 hours of video on the web per month, not much of an increase over last year.
More numbers are coming in for Sunday's Oscars: looks like viewership went up 13% and not the 6% we reported yesterday, still the audience was the third-smallest in Oscar-viewing history of the past 40 years.
Also, happy birthday Abe Vigoda (1921).
