TV Junkie: Great Ep of 'Parks & Rec' Tonight; Also 'The League' & More
It's NBC comedy night followed by the hour of FX comedies that really let loose. "The League" again promises to be great, check out the preview at the end of this post but we also heard that tonight's episode of "Parks and Recreation" was a fave of certain cast and crew, we're intrigued. Both "Chelsea Lately" and "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" were excellent last night as was "Conan" with Michael C. Hall guesting, see the above clip of Jimmy with Olympian Michael Phelps as well as the embed of the full "Conan" (Michael C. Hall starts at about minute 26). Last night's "Happy Endings" was also very good, I hope that Megan Mullally returns as Casey Wilson's mom - pure gold.

Comedian Jim Jeffries is getting a shot at a TV on FX as they've committed to a pilot entitled "Legit" starring Jeffries. Jeffries is a great comic and his ability to tell stories, rather than one-liners, will probably be fueling the plotlines.

Also along the lines of stand-up comedy is the story of a new sitcom starring Hannibal Buress co-created by Buress and Jonah Hill, to air on Fox. Buress is a brilliant writer and performer who has penned for "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock." If he ever makes it back to LA to perform, you have got to see it! I saw him do a short set at the Montréal Just for Laughs Festival this summer, it was fantastic.

The Paley Center for Media is hosting a premiere screening of the documentary Miss Representation on Monday, October 17, at 7:30pm. Filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom interrogates the skewed image of women in media, from reality television to corporate and presidential politics. The film weaves stories from teenagers with piercing comments from Katie Couric, Gloria Steinem, Rachel Maddow, and Nancy Pelosi, and more. This is a members-only event, more reason to become a member of this great organization.
