Tonight marks the return of "The League" to FX at 10:30pm (see above clip). This is a show that I've been behind from the first episode and I'm so pleased to see how it's developed into a comedy cornerstone for FX when its position felt so tenuous just this past January. Our core group of semi-do-wells Mark Duplass, Nick Kroll, Jonathan Lajoie, Stephen Rannazzisi, Paul Scheer, and Katie Aselton are back with special guest star for tonight, Seth Rogen, and semi-regular Jason Mantzoukas exploring porn and sports (essentially another kind of porn). For more on Kroll, check out this column on Tablet which looks at Kroll's career as well as his character, Ruxin. "The League" combined with "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" creates an unbeatable comedy hour for FX and now that NBC has abandoned their late-primetime hour of comedy, I'm now relieved of the dilemma of what to watch from 10-11pm.

There's been no more comprehensive TV coverage of the Occupy Wall Street movement than Current TV's efforts, particularly Keith Olbermann's attention to the demonstrations all over the country. Olbermann's detractors will point to his progressive leanings but when the network is providing better coverage of a movement that crosses all party lines than all other TV outlets combined, you have to give them credit. To stay on top of what's happening with Occupy Wall Street, I plan on watching "Countdown" again tonight at 8pm.

Who watched "American Horror Story" last night? 5 million people watched the show making it the biggest drama bow in the 18-49 category in FX's history. What did you think? It's definitely not for everybody but I can tell you that it gets even more complicated, mysterious, and surreal in the upcoming episodes. I'm using the word "mysterious" because after viewing these episodes "American Horror Story" is more about mystery and less about the horror. Gore is a tool in the show and not the point of it.

Fox's "New Girl" has become a modest success already and I was very pleased to see that the talented Lizzy Caplan will join the series for a three episode arc (and hopefully more).

Hank Azaria went on Twitter to appeal to viewers to keep his show, "Free Agents," alive but it was too little too late as NBC canceled the show today. I thought there were some supremely funny people on that show, particularly Al Madrigal, Mo Mandel, and Natasha Leggero, but there was always something off between Azaria and his costar Kathryn Hahn not to mention that NBC put this sitcom up against "X Factor" & "Survivor" premieres. I hope to see the cast members in new productions soon.
Where is "Better Off Ted"? That show was better than any of the comedies introduced this Fall.
