TV Junkie: Scott Thompson & Kevin McDonald of 'The Kids In The Hall' in Town?
Scott Thompson and Kevin McDonald of "The Kids In The Hall" will be playing at the Irvine Improv through Sunday
It's the weekend which means it's time to bitch again about how vacant Saturday night programming is compared to Sunday's overstacked embarrassment of riches. This weekend is a little different, however, as over at the Irvine Improv, a couple of people who helped re-establish sketch comedy as a television art form will be performing "Two Kids One Hall with Scott Thompson and Kevin McDonald" all weekend long with multiple shows on Friday and Saturday nights.
We spoke with Kevin McDonald yesterday to find out what the show is like and he told us that he and Scott definitely spend some time together on the stage but the purpose of the Irvine series of shows is to help migrate their alt-com act over to true stand-up comedy venues, making Irvine the official premiere of their stand-up show. Things have been going very well so far but if you want to be able to say that you were there when Kevin and Scott began the US tour of their stand-up show, go to Irvine to confirm the success of the experiment.
Looking at the wasteland of Friday and Saturday nights, "Two Kids One Hall with Scott Thompson and Kevin McDonald" is definitely your best bet of the weekend. If you want even more of Kevin McDonald, just wait until you see him in Canada's first 3D movie Dead Before Dawn 3D which is filming now and will be out early next year - McDonald said the filming was a lot of fun, particularly working with the legendary Christopher Lloyd is starring in the film.
Looking at Sunday's trainwreck of a night, we're staying steady with our formula of "True Blood"/"Breaking Bad"/"Curb Your Enthusiasm" - we can't wait to see more of Bill Burr in "Breaking Bad" and who knows who will be guest starring on "Curb" this time around?
